CPRC Awarded Grant to Study Consumer Decision-Making in Energy-Efficient Appliance Purchases

We are thrilled to announce we are the proud recipients of an Energy Consumers Australia grant. This funding will support a new research project focused on consumer decision-making when purchasing major household appliances.

Appliances account for approximately 25% of household energy use, making energy-efficient choices crucial for reducing both energy consumption and household bills. However, there is a notable lack of up-to-date Australian research on how consumers make decisions when buying large household appliances.

Our project aims to fill this gap by providing an in-depth understanding of the consumer decision-making process. We will investigate how consumers navigate the plethora of information and marketing messages they encounter at the point of display or purchase.

The ultimate goal of this research is to empower consumers with high-quality information on energy efficiency. By doing so, we hope to enable more informed decisions and better protect consumers from misleading claims and potential harm.

We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to sharing our findings.

Stay tuned!
